The print is turned to match your photo and filled edge to edge, so a different shape means some is cropped.

How to use Print Size Calculator
Print Size Calculator tells you how big you can print a photo, and how many pixels you need for a print size. Type the photo's width and height in pixels, or drop the photo and it reads the size for you. It shows the print size in cm, mm and inches, the photo's shape, and how sharp it will look on common sizes like 4 × 6 in, A4 and A3. It all works in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
- 1
Choose My photo to find out how big a photo can print, or Pixels needed to work out the pixels for a print size.
- 2
For My photo, type the width and height in pixels, pick a common size like Phone 12 MP, or drop a photo to read its size.
- 3
Pick a DPI. 300 is the usual choice for sharp prints. You can type any other number too.
- 4
Read the print size at that DPI, the largest print at 300, 200 and 150 DPI, and the table of common print sizes.
- 5
For Pixels needed, choose a print size and portrait or landscape, or type a custom size in cm, mm or inches. Press Copy the numbers to keep the answer.
Common questions
How big can I print a 12 megapixel photo?
A 4032 × 3024 phone photo prints at about 34 × 25.6 cm (13.4 × 10.1 in) at 300 DPI. At 200 DPI it prints at about 51.2 × 38.4 cm, which still looks good at normal viewing distance.
How many pixels do I need for an A4 print?
At 300 DPI, A4 needs 2,480 × 3,508 pixels. At 200 DPI it needs 1,654 × 2,339. Choose Pixels needed and pick A4 to see every DPI.
What DPI should I use?
300 DPI gives sharp prints you can look at up close. 200 to 299 looks sharp at arm's length. 150 to 199 is fine from a step back. Under 150 is likely to look soft. 72 DPI is for screens, not print.
Why does it say some of my photo is cropped?
Each print size has its own shape. When your photo's shape is different, the print is filled edge to edge and the extra is cut off. The table shows how much of the photo is lost, so you can crop it yourself first if you'd rather choose what goes.
Is the Print Size Calculator free?
Yes. It's always free, with no sign-up and no limits.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. If you drop a photo, your browser reads only its width and height on your device. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
