How to use Photo Send

Photo Send moves photos and videos straight from one device to another, right in your browser. It works between iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and anything else with a modern browser. Devices on the same Wi-Fi find each other on their own, and any two devices can pair with a 6-digit code or a QR code. The photos travel directly between the two devices, encrypted, and are never uploaded or stored.

  1. 1

Open myphototools.com/send on both devices. On the same Wi-Fi, each one appears on the other's screen. A signed-in device shows its email, partly hidden, like al•••@gmail.com. Others get a random name like Blue Fox.

  2. 2

On the device with the photos, sign in (it's free) and choose your photos.

  3. 3

Tap the device you want to send to.

  4. 4

On the other device, check who it's from and tap Accept. The photos arrive in full quality.

  5. 5

Save them. On a phone, Save all opens the share sheet so you can save straight to Photos.

Common questions

How do I send photos from my phone to my computer without uploading them?

Open myphototools.com/send on both. They find each other on the same Wi-Fi, or you can scan a QR code. Choose your photos on the phone, tap the computer, and accept on the computer. The photos go straight across and nothing is uploaded.

How is it different from AirDrop?

AirDrop only works between Apple devices. Photo Send works between any two, like iPhone and Windows or Android and Mac, with nothing to install. Pro also sends a whole shoot in one go, as separate photos or one zip, and can resize or compress the photos before they arrive.

Are my photos stored anywhere?

No. The photos go directly from one device to the other, encrypted. Our server only helps the two devices find each other and never sees the photos.

Do I need an account?

You need a free account to send, so every send belongs to a real person. Receiving never needs an account.

How many photos can I send?

Free sends up to 10 photos or 500 MB at a time, in full quality. Pro, or credits, send up to 2,000 photos or 4 GB at a time, and Pro sends as often as you like.

Does it use my credits or free downloads?

Free sends never do: up to 10 photos or 500 MB at a time, in full quality. The extras, more photos, one zip and making photos smaller, are included with Pro. Without Pro they use 1 credit for every 20 photos, shown before you send and only taken if the other person accepts. Re-sending the same photos to the same device within 15 minutes is free.

Can I change my device's name?

No. A signed-in device shows its email, partly hidden, like al•••@gmail.com, so you can tell it's yours but others nearby can't read it. A device that isn't signed in gets a random name like Blue Fox. Names can't be typed in, so nobody can pose as your device.

Why can't my devices find each other?

They need to be on the same internet connection. If they are on different networks, or a work network blocks it, tap Pair with a code and scan the QR code instead.
