How to use RAW Editor

RAW Editor develops camera RAW files right in your browser, like a pro desktop editor: white balance, exposure, highlights and shadows, texture and clarity, a tone curve, a colour mixer and black & white, colour grading, noise reduction, lens corrections, straightening and cropping. It works with CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2 and more. Editing is always free, and your photos never leave your computer. Nothing is uploaded or stored by us.

  1. 1

Drop your RAW files onto the page, or choose them (up to 50 on a computer, 10 on a phone). Editing is always free. Each photo you save uses one of your free daily downloads, or a credit, or is included with Pro.

  2. 2

Pick a photo in the filmstrip. Press Auto for a good start, or try a look.

  3. 3

Adjust the sliders. Hold the backslash key (\) or press After/Before to compare, and press R to crop and straighten.

  4. 4

Copy your settings (⌘C) and paste them (⌘V) onto other photos you select in the filmstrip.

  5. 5

Press Save to get a JPG. You can also save your settings as an XMP file for other RAW editors.

Common questions

Can I edit RAW photos online for free?

Yes. Editing is always free for everyone, with no sign-up. Saving a JPG uses one of your free downloads for the day, at full size. When today’s free downloads are used, credits or Pro let you keep going.

Are my RAW files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded, and we never see or keep your photos.

Can I carry my edits into another RAW editor?

Yes. Save an XMP file and keep it next to your RAW file with the same name. Most popular desktop RAW editors read it and pick up your settings. Their engines differ, so it's a close starting point rather than an exact match. DNG files keep settings inside, so some editors ignore an XMP for them.

Which cameras are supported?

Most cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus/OM System, Panasonic, Pentax, Leica and more, plus DNG from phones and other apps.

How do credits work here?

Only when you save. Editing, Auto, looks and copying settings never use anything. Each saved photo counts as one download: a free daily one, or 1 credit, and Pro is unlimited.

Why is it best on a computer?

RAW files are large and need a lot of memory to develop. Computers handle them easily; phones can struggle with big files.
