How to use Sharpen

Sharpen an image online to make a slightly soft or blurry photo look clearer and crisper. It uses a proper unsharp mask with amount, radius and threshold, and works on brightness only, so you don't get coloured halos. It is great for product shots, prints and photos that came out a touch soft.

Common questions

How do I make a blurry photo clearer?

Add the photo, raise the Amount and keep the Radius small, then compare before and after. It works well on slightly soft photos. A photo that is badly out of focus or shaken will look better but can't be made truly sharp.

What is unsharp mask?

It is the classic way to sharpen photos. It finds edges by comparing the photo with a blurred copy, then makes those edges a little stronger. Amount sets how much, Radius sets how wide the edges are, and Threshold skips smooth areas.

Why does my sharpened photo look grainy?

Sharpening also picks up noise. Raise the Threshold so smooth areas are left alone, or lower the Amount.

Is it free to sharpen photos?

Yes. Saving one photo is free and doesn't use any of your downloads. Several at once use one download each, and the free plan gives you 5 a day at full quality with no watermark. You can sharpen up to 5 photos at a time for free, or 50 with credits or Pro.

Are my photos uploaded to sharpen them?

No. The sharpening happens in your browser and your photos stay on your device.
