Sharp? Well exposed? Big enough?Always free
How to use Photo Checker
Check a photo before you use it: is it sharp, well exposed and big enough to print? The Photo Checker shows a sharpness score, a focus map, a histogram, blown highlights and colour cast, plus the biggest sharp print size. It is always free and nothing is uploaded.
- 1
Choose your photos, or drop them anywhere on the page. You can check up to 30 at a time.
- 2
Read the Photo check for sharpness, exposure, colour, and size and printing.
- 3
Switch between Photo, Clipping and Focus map to see where it is sharp and where detail is lost.
- 4
With several photos, sort by Blurriest or Exposure to find the weak ones.
- 5
Press Copy report or Save report to keep the results.
Common questions
How can I tell if a photo is blurry?
Add it to the Photo Checker. It gives a sharpness score out of 100 and says Sharp, Slightly soft or Blurry. The focus map shows which parts are sharpest.
How big can I print my photo?
Under Size and printing, the checker shows the size in centimetres at 300 dpi for best quality and 200 dpi for good quality. Common print sizes are marked green if they print crisp.
What does a histogram show?
How the dark and light areas of the photo are spread. A big pile at the left edge means pure black shadows, and at the right edge means blown-out whites.
Is the Photo Checker free?
Yes. It is always free, and there's nothing to download except an optional text report.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Every check runs in your browser and your photos stay on your device.
